Alston is a pretty town with a market cross and historical houses set in the heart of the North Pennines, a stone’s throw from the Lake District. It is surrounded by rolling, heather covered fells and is proud to be England’s highest market town and even has the highest golf course in England.

Its remote location makes it an ideal area to get away from it all and yet is close to numerous areas of beautiful unspoilt countryside, historical features and beautiful coastlines, with lots of nearby attractions, activities and stunning walks. Its location on the Pennine Way enables you to take advantage of hiking one or two of the more challenging legs of the walk in its 60th Anniversary Year. The surrounding roads are quiet and challenging making them a cyclist’s and motorcyclist’s heaven.

The hostel sleeps up to 28 in six bunk-bedded rooms, has two shared bathrooms and two additional shower rooms, a fully fitted self-catering kitchen, dining room and snug, with plenty of parking and a drying room. Enjoy views over the adjoining woods and even take a dip in the river!

Only food and drink specified in prize will be provided, all other food and drink to be purchased by prize winner. Food and alcohol only provided for 12-16 people, but up to 28 guests could be included, depending on size of bid.
